Wow! What a day! Dr. Shannon and I supported Phillip Phillips all day long. it was a long day but well worth it. We made it to the stadium about 12:00 and stood in line. Once they let the gates open we got a great spot on the field maybe, 10 rows back from the stage. It was just perfect!! We took up residence on the field maybe ten or twelve rows back from the stage. To my left, in the distance I could see a man on crutches. At one point I saw two people pushing a stroller with a sleeping baby, trying to make it up to the front. I even saw a woman with an oxygen mask carrying an oxygen tank about six or eight rows in front of me. Then there was a crazy, seven months pregnant woman. Those were some dedicated fans! We made it to our spots a little after one o'clock. Then the crowd kept coming...and coming...and coming. At first it was very comfortable, the sun was shining and hot but there was a great breeze. As the people filed in, it started getting tight and hot. My back began hurting and my feet were aching. Yes, that crazy, pregnant woman was I. I hung in there until 4:00, but when the sherriff got on stage a few minutes after 4:00 and said the parade had "officially" started, I had to call it quits. I knew it was going to be at least another hour and I had been standing in that crowd for three! I could no longer take the people bumping into me and pushing me forward. It was just too much for me and Baby C. I picked up and moved to the back of the field, which I found was much more pleasant. The breeze was great and I was able to sit down on the grass and stretch out. Finally, the concert started around 5:30. I think he played a total of 8 songs. He and his band did a fabulous job. It was so nice to attend a concert where there were no fights and no drunks. All in all it was a pleasant day, minus the feet and back ache. No matter what happens in the following weeks, Phillip Phillips is going to be a star! Not only in Leesburg, but nation wide...probably world wide. Leesburg Georgia is a great town to be a part of. All the citizens and businesses have done an outstanding job of showing their support. It is just so exciting to be a part of a town that is part of something so big. I look forward to the next episodes with great anticipation!
